We think this is a really exciting itinerary, jam-packed with wildlife, people and hiking. Perfect for active people of all ages, you will make the most of your Tanzanian experience for a modest outlay. Visit the famous wildlife destinations of Ngorongoro, Serengeti and Lake Manyara. But there's more to Tanzania than just wildlife. Meet the people whose cultures have flourished here for centuries. Talk and walk with Maasai pastoralists, Hadzabe hunter/gatherers and Iraqw agro-pasturalists. Explore the survival of their culture and discover how they really live. For your final few days, hike in the beautiful Maasai Steppe of Northern Tanzania, away from the main roads and other tourist vehicles. See your last wildlife, spend time with the Maasai and really appreciate the space and peace of Africa.

Day 1 Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport. We take you to stay at Moivaro Coffee Plantation Lodge. Overnight here.
Day 2 After an early breakfast, drive to Ngorongoro Crater with a picnic lunch. Drop your bags off at Ngorongoro Wildlife Lodge, perched on the crater rim, where you will be staying tonight and tomorrow. Descend into the crater for your first game drive. You are surrounded by wildlife, maybe you will have the chance to see the rare black rhino, a wonderful introduction to the African safari in wonderful surroundings. In the early evening drive back up the crater wall to your lodge.
Day 3 Take a packed breakfast and lunch into and across the crater for a morning game drive, towards Olmoti Crater and pick up a ranger for your hike across the crater floor to the Munge waterfalls. Later visit a Maasai Boma. Back to Ngorongoro Wildlife Lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 4 After breakfast drive into Serengeti National Park. You will be looking out for animals all day today, so take a picnic lunch and go where the animals are. You will be camping in the Serengeti eco-system tonight, maybe in central Serengeti, maybe in the north at Lobo or maybe in Ngorongoro Conservation Area in the far south, it will depend where the wildlife is.
Day 5 Spend today exploring this beautiful national park and its wildlife. The great herds might be moving south, east, west or north!! No problem here, you are perfectly sited to find them from your camp. Come back tonight to your camp site.
Day 6 After breakfast depart for Olduvai Gorge, site of Louis and Mary Leakey's discoveries of the origin of man. You will be retracing your steps today along the crater rim. After your picnic lunch, continue on to Lake Eyasi, a beautiful soda lake at the foot of the rift valley. Maybe there is time for a walk in the cool of the afternoon. Dinner and overnight at your Lake Eyasi Camp
Day 7 Today, after breakfast, you'll visit the Hadzabe people to experience with them their way of life. Enjoy a talk with people familiar with the area. Tonight stay at Lake Eyasi Camp
Day 8 This morning after breakfast you will have a final opportunity for a walk at Lake Eyasi, or to meet again with the Hadzabe. In the afternoon drive back to Karatu, where you will have an opportunity to meet some Iraqw who will be able to explain some of their traditions and culture. Dinner and overnight at Kudu Camp Site near Karatu.
Day 9 Spend the morning in Lake Manyara National Park, your last game drive. Drive back to Arusha for lunch, and then on to Longido for a short introduction of the Maasai language, followed by a walk to your camp site, next to a Maasai Boma (homestead).
